About us

Hi, I’m Petra, and I’m a self-taught ceramic artist.

I have been running my business selling my original, handmade ceramic jewellery components for the last eleven years, and some of you may be familiar with my work from my Etsy shop (scorchedearthon etsy.etsy.com), where you can find a large reviews section and view my sold pieces.

I previously worked as an Occupational Therapy Instructor on an acute psychiatric unit, where I ran a range of different groups, with jewellery making being a firm favourite!  In 2011, I had the opportunity to move here with my partner to beautiful North Devon within Exmoor National Park.  It is an area of outstanding natural beauty, with high rugged clifftops overlooking the Atlantic, heather covered moorlands and mature woodlands. We share our home here with seven cats, and a have regular visits   from foxes and deer.

I am passionate about creating interesting and unique pieces to stir the imagination and spark creativity in my customers.  I love seeing the different and fascinating ways in which my pieces have been interpreted to create beautiful finished jewellery, and I view my relationship with my customers as being a wholly collaborative one.  I am also willing to accept custom requests, to produce truly unique pieces to your specific requirements for your jewellery projects.

My surroundings are a huge source of inspiration to me, and I use a lot of natural found objects from the beach and the woods to add enriching textures and shapes to my pieces.

I work to a monthly schedule, with a big update of new stock at the end of each month. All of my pieces are individually hand-crafted, and as such, no two pieces are identical. I pay particular attention to keeping things very lightweight, especially for use in earrings. I enjoy constantly experimenting with new techniques and finishes, so my work is constantly changing and evolving.

I am also committed to supporting the charity Rebuilding Lives UK, and have created a range of pieces for it, with all the proceeds going to the charity. You can find more information about it and it’s extraordinary founder, Naima Ben-Moussa in the dedicated page here.

I really hope you’ll enjoy visiting my site, and will find something to delight you!!

Love,

Petra
